VEGAS NEWS
Jerry says, "As you know I have been having a love affair with Las Vegas for decades. We still broadcast from there several times a year. It is something else and I think they are on the right track back to the sizzle of the city. Read what Daily Variety recently said about the town and then scroll down and enter into the magic of the city."

REVAMPED LAS VEGAS

Lately everything's been coming up sevens for Las Vegas. After ditching the misguided family friendliness of a few years ago, Vegas rediscovered its naughty nature. Following a fresh influx of adult-oriented attractions and accommodations, grownups started gravitating to Sin City again. The lesson learned: This is no time to let it ride. At 100 years old, Vegas remains as vivacious as a showgirl, and she's unafraid to admit to needing a nip here and a tuck there to keep the glamour from fading.

Possible Final Frontier for 'Trek' at Hilton New Year's Eve will probably be curtains for "Star Trek: The Attraction" at the Las Vegas Hilton, after 10 years of going where no casino has gone before, says TrekMovie.com. Don't blame the LVH: The owner of the "Trek" franchise, CBS/Paramount, isn't renewing its contract with the operators of the attraction, apparently due to declining attendance at the home of Quark's Bar and its space-themed casino.

A final decision on whether to keep the attraction or not will be made by the end of May. It is possible that the attraction could be sold by Cedar Fair to another company, who would then have to make new deals with both the Hilton and CBS.
A closure would also effect the annual official Creation Star Trek Convention which has been held yearly at the Las Vegas Hilton since The Experience opened in 1998. A decision would have to be made as to whether they should stay at the Hilton, or relocate to another hotel, possibly opting for one closer to the strip.

Tropicana owner bankrupt - Gaming company says properties will remain open as it seeks to restructure.

The owner of two of Lake Tahoe's four major casinos filed for bankruptcy Monday.
The bankruptcy was first reported on the Wall Street Journal's Web site and then confirmed by Tropicana's president, Scott Butera, in an interview with the Associated Press.

Last Friday, Tropicana told the Securities and Exchange Commission that it received a default notice from Credit Suisse on a $1.32 billion loan. Tropicana, which owns the Tropicana casino in Las Vegas as well as other properties, has been in trouble for months because of massive debts incurred in a $2 billion takeover in 2006.  CLICK HERE for more information.
